Dan Hebel – 2014 Future 5
Those that know Dan Hebel know him as a community advocate with an infectious enthusiasm impossible to ignore. As chief professional officer of the Boys & Girls Club of Fond du Lac, Hebel has established a name for himself in the Fond du Lac community and beyond. An excerpt from a nomination letter, helping to recognize Hebel’s outstanding service reads as follows: “Dan is a reason to believe in the future, when he speaks, he fills the room with determination, commitment and pride.” These strong words describe an incredible young professional and community member, committed to making a difference right here in Fond du Lac. As the second youngest chief professional officer within the 26 Boys & Girls Clubs in the state of Wisconsin, Hebel is certainly blazing a trail of success and inspiration. In 2010, he was named the Youth Development Professional of the Year for the Club and in 2012 he was selected as the Midwest Professional of the Year by the Boys & Girls Clubs Professional Association.
Professionally, Hebel is known as an astute, dedicated and highly competent manager and an inspiring leader. Under his leadership the Boys and Girls Club has experienced considerable growth, including the $15 million joint building project between the Fond du Lac Family YMCA and the Boys & Girls Club. Working together with community organizations has been top priority for me,” explained Hebel. “Our ability to collectively meet the ever-growing needs of the people who live here is inspiring and ensures a bright future for Fond du Lac.”
Diligently uniting the kids, staff, board, parents and community leaders, Hebel is the glue, the force that makes things work at the Boys & Girls Club of Fond du Lac and beyond. And as if that weren’t enough, Dan is involved in numerous community organizations including the Fond du Lac Noon Rotary, City of Fond du Lac Board of Appeals, Fond du Lac County Youth Employment Program, St. Mary’s Springs Academy Communications Committee, Holy Family Stewardship Commission Marketing Committee and the Comprehensive Service Integration (CSI) Steering Committee. Through his professional work and volunteer work, Dan Hebel has a clear understanding of the needs of the community and is committed to fostering relationships and developing solutions.
