David Michalkiewicz – 2017 Future 5
David is the Athletic Director for the Fond du Lac School District. As his nominator, Dr. James Sebert, Superintendent for the Fond du Lac School District stated, “David Michalkiewicz has been nothing but a breath of fresh, energetic air since arriving on scene in Fond du Lac. He brings an incredible amount of energy and passion to his role as the Athletic Director at Fond du Lac High School each and every day that he serves.”
In the past year, Michalkiewicz has distinguished himself as a community leader through his development of the Carol M. White Physical Education Grant yielding $1.25 million to be used for physical fitness and nutrition education within the Fond du Lac School District. In addition, he was directly involved with four major athletic facility improvements including: construction of a new tennis facility, installation of a new field house gym floor, renovation of high school baseball fields and improvement of the high school varsity softball field. Lastly, under his leadership the district has seen a 10% increase in student participation in high school athletics over last year; a testament to his leadership and passion for student engagement.
In addition to his career involvement, Michalkiewicz is a member of the Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association, YMCA Board of Directors and YMCA Program and Membership Committee. Within the Fond du Lac School District, Michalkiewicz is a co-program manager of the Fond du Lac High School Physical Education Program Grant Team, member of the Fond du Lac Team Leaders Group and serves on the Fond du Lac High School Homeless Team.
