Where do you work, what is your current position and what do you like most about it?
I’ve been with Michels Corporation for more than ten years, currently working in the Marketing department as the Marketing Assistant. My favorite part is the customer service and helping others on a daily basis. I also get to be a little creative at times, which is fun!
What has YPF done for your personal and/or professional development?
YPF has encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and socialize with other people in the area. It has also allowed me to learn more about the businesses and become more involved in the community. Meeting other YPF members and hearing what they have accomplished has inspired me to do what I can to make a positive impact, too.
What are some of the professional and volunteer groups you participate in?
I am a committee member for the Michels Corporation’s Scholarship Fund, a 4-H leader of the Lomira Clover Leaves 4-H club, a member of Fond du Lac Women’s Fund, a YPF member, a volunteer Junior Achievement teacher, and I volunteer at my children’s school.
What is your favorite thing to do in the Fond du Lac area?
I really enjoy Walleye Weekend with my family and YPF’s Casino Night is a blast, too! Gilles, Lillian’s or the farmers market are some of my favorite spots. Fond du Lac has a lot of different things to offer for all ages and I’m fortunate it’s so close to home.
What words of wisdom do you have for other young professionals working in Fond du Lac?
Getting involved is a great way to meet peers and make a meaningful difference. Find an organization or two and volunteer some of your time. You might just surprise yourself where you end up! If you only have an hour or two to give, give an hour or two! Don’t let your busy schedule stop you from getting involved, and don’t think you have to make a massive time commitment to have a positive impact. YPF is a great way to get started. Also, surround yourself with people who make you laugh and make you feel good about yourself.
