Where do you work, what is your current position and what do you like most about it?
I work at Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus, WI, as an orthopedic Nurse Practitioner and Total Joint Replacement Care Coordinator. I love the variety in my work week. As a clinic NP I get to care for patients of all ages and their orthopedic ailments, assist with surgeries and follow them through hospital stays when necessary. As a Care Coordinator I get to educate patients and their families, and be their biggest advocate through a stressful time in their lives – getting a hip or knee replacement.
I also am an Adjunct Faculty Member for Concordia University – Wisconsin. I teach for the online clinical portion of Nurse Practitioner students as well as mentor them for their capstone Scholarly Project. I love this job because I’m constantly learning from my students, while at the same time guiding them on their journeys to becoming NPs.
