October 2015 YP of the Month: Tiffany Heim
Where do you work, what is your current position and what do you like most about it?
I work as Director of Resource Development for the Boys & Girls Club of Fond du Lac. I love my job because it offers so much variety and makes a positive impact on the youth in our community. I’m very proud to be part of such a great organization that continues to grow and do bigger and better things for our future leaders.
What has YPF done for your personal and/or professional development?
YPF has given me the opportunity to network with people I normally wouldn’t have the chance to meet and get to know. It has also helped me to build on my leadership skills by being on committees to help plan events for our members to enjoy and take advantage of.
Who or what is your source of professional inspiration?
I’m really inspired by the kids we serve every day here at the Club. I strive to be a better professional so I can do even more to help move this organization forward and also be a good role model and example for youth, especially my 11 year old son.
What are some of the professional and volunteer groups you participate in?
I participated in the Leadership Fond du Lac program this year, and it was one of the best professional and personal experiences I have ever had. I highly recommend it! I have also been a member of the Fond du Lac Noon Kiwanis Club for almost 4 years. I am currently the President-Elect and will serve as President of the group starting this October. Looking forward to it! Also, I have been a coach for the Girls on the Run program for the past two years…also a very fun and rewarding experience!
What is your favorite thing to do in the Fond du Lac area?
I love doing anything active and outside, including hiking out at Hobbs Woods or Kiekhaefer Park, biking or running along the Fond du Lac Loop, and boating or tubing on Lake Winnebago.
Where do you see the Fond du Lac area in 5 years?
I don’t have a definite answer for that yet. However, I believe the Envision Fond du Lac initiative really has us headed in the right direction to figure out where we want to be and what we need to do in order to get there. Fond du Lac is a great community with residents who care, so I am confident we will be in good shape in 5 years and continue to improve beyond that.
What words of wisdom do you have for other young professionals working in Fond du Lac?
Don’t sell yourself short. Believe in your ability to go above and beyond. Step outside the box. And get involved! The more involved we are, the more we learn and grow…which allows us to be better leaders and move our community forward.
